Kaye you folks need to check out Dr Ken D Berry and Dr Jason Fung . Nobody needs 100 carbs a day. Keto and Carnivore is saving lives. Many are getting off of their meds and living well by cutting way down on carbs, and some no carbs . Get rid of sugars, grains and bad oils and allow your body to heal itself. Most of that packaged stuff contains Maltodextrin and more bad stuff , it's worse than real sugar. God bless you both and all the best.

Hi, 230 carbs a day is way too high for a diabetic. Please watch Dr. Jason Fung here on UA-cam. He has been able to help his patients to become non diabetic. Another good resource is Beat Diabetes with Dennis, also here on UA-cam.

Hi Kaye, Thanks for sharing your recipes. I really recommend watching a documentary called Reversed. There are 2 parts I believe. Many doctors out there believe the ADA has the carb recommendations too high. Just wanted to mention in case you or your husband are interested in doing some research on your own. I love that Kaye, I think sometimes people just don't know how to respond to joy, when they are troubled on the inside. I always think too... responding with love, even when someone is hurtful is best. I sure wouldn't want to play that role in life of being the angry bitter one... I see a lot of recipes involving chicken stock or chicken broth and onions and celery and all that kind of stuff but back in the day only thing we had was beans and one ham hock if you was lucky. Sometimes we weren't so lucky and all we have was some grease left over from Sunday bacon. A couple of tablespoons of that right there and you'll be good to go

Were your limas presoaked? When to add onion celery and other stuff?
